This is the same shadow box from the last post, but I added this fun 4x4 tile in place of the pumpkin. With the new import feature you can take your favorite 6x6 or 12x12 tiles and import them onto a 4x8 card and make 2 4x4 tiles :)

Thanksgiving Ideas

I am going to feel like Martha Stewart this year! If you are the host of Thanksgiving this year be sure to find out WHO is coming so you can make name place tags for all the guests and a placemat for all the kids! Type 39747 into the search in the template gallery!

I am in love with the place mats for the holidays! With 3 young children it is a fun and inexpensive way to have a little fun celebrating. Just go to our template gallery and type in 43230 and 41781 and when at the store pick up some dry erase markers for the kids to have fun at the table this year! (Could decorate the dry erase markers too! Sunflowers and glue gun? send me a photo if you do!)

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Two of my three kids are now in school - Thanks to Heritage Makers I already have both of their first day of school pages finished! Took a total of 5 minutes for BOTH of them - no cutting, pasting, gluing, printing out pictures, enlarging pictures, etc. GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

I am SOO excited about my new post bound album! As many of you know I use it for my "blog". I can't believe how easy it is to just swap out the photos, add some text and you're done! These 3 pages are from the gallery and took me less than 10 minutes to make - and they are beautiful - thanks to the original designers! NEW Clocks!!!

Aren't these fun! The square clocks were made using a 12x12 pg and the round clock is an 8x8 pg. You can buy the clock hands and back individually OR I just used the hands and back from old circle clocks I had around the house - the walmart $4 8 inch clock. I used the cardboard box that the pages came in, traced the pg on it and then cut out the cardboard. I used spray adhesive to stick the page to the cardboard. Before you stick them together you'll want to poke a hole through the center of the page and cardboard so you can put the back of the clock through it and attach the hands to the front.

Addicted to Wipe Off Boards

If you select uv coating on a 12x12 or 11x14 pg it will come with a coating over the top of it that works like a white board. They are SO much fun and SO easy to make! My kids love to play with them and I do too! (not sure why this is underlined, can't figure out how to make it not underlined)

These fun Baptism pages are made using the new church art that was added this month. Cut the page into 4 pieces, hole punch the top in two places and put rings through each hole to keep them together. This is a fun gift to give to someone who has recently been baptized and is perfect to take to church to help keep the kids quite. They sell washable dry erase markers so you don't have to worry about your kids ruining their clothes:)

These boards are really fun for the little boys and girls you have in your life. They LOVE playing with adults and it's great bonding time:)

This one I am most excited about - the CHORE chart!!! I have told the kids that whoever has the most check marks at the end of each week will receive $1. I'm hoping this will help even out the load of work I do around the house:)

Advent Calendars

I think I'm starting to collect advent calendars. I keep thinking of all these fun ideas and hearing about great ideas that others have done and I just have to make them... it will be a full time job just keeping up with all the advent calendars next month, but at least this way all 3 kids can rotate advent calendars and have something to take off or add every day:)

Here are a few of them:

This is 2 12x12 pages. You use an exacto knife to cute the windows open and then you have another 12x12 behind it so when you open the windows there are pictures of the kids, things to do like "take a Christmas picture" "share your favorite Christmas memory" "go look at Christmas lights" etc. Of course, all the windows can be personalized so you can have them say whatever you want.

This is the darling tree from total class creative. Same place I got the darling pumpkins. The idea with this one is that each day until Christmas the kids will add an ornament to the tree and by Christmas the tree will fully decorated with darling ornaments with the kids pictures on them. There are lots of other fun things you can do with these trees. Check out total class creative blog, they have super cute things.

These countdown blocks are also made with 2 12x12 pages and a 7 in 2x4 and 2 4x4 blocks. You can get the wood at Home Depot and then cut them to size.

This is a darling one, it's 2 12x12 pages. You glue the main page to a cookie sheet (found at the dollar store) and then cut out the 25 presents and put a magnet on the back and you're ready to go. My friend Michelle Bell a fellow HM Consultant came up with this brilliant idea:) Each day you take off a present and there is a number behind it. Then you just stick the present on the back of the cookie sheet so you don't lose them.. super cute, super easy!

My friend Janet Shaw gave me another brilliant idea today with this same cookie sheet idea, except it's with a mini muffin sheet. Then you can put a treat inside the space. I'm excited to make one and when I do I'll post pictures:)

BLING!

So here's my first attempt at using BLING... it really isn't my thing, but this darling clock is for my sisters baby girls room (baby coming end of January - first girl after 3 boys) and my sister is ALL about BLING:)

I bought the clock at Wal Mart for $4 and designed an 8x8 page in my HM studio account. The page is $3, What a darling clock for under $10! I bought the BLING at Wal Mart and just glued it to the paper, so fun:) It's going to look darling on the shelf in the nursery.

Double Duty

These darling pumpkins are doing double duty. They were adorable during Halloween and they are perfect for Thanksgiving too! The whole table decor is 100% HM. The "give thanks" is made out of a deck of cards, the little blocks below the post bound book are made using a 12x12 pg and then gluing onto wood, the "blessing bucket" is also made out of a 12x12 pg, you just glue the pieces onto the paint bucket (found at craft stores) and tie ribbon and fabric on the handle. We've had fun each Monday night adding our blessings to the "blessing bucket". We'll read all our blessing on Thanksgiving and then I'll publish them in a square flip book along with pictures of the kids. What a great way to document the things we're grateful for for the next generation. I would LOVE to have a copy of the items my great grandma was thankful for when she was a young mother my age... I'm sure her list would vary greatly from ours and definitely wouldn't include things like the ...internet, cars, cell phones, indoor plumbing, digital cameras, etc. But I do know there would be some similarities on the list... family, friends, good health, and the gospel.

You've got to check out their darling things. They have darling trees that I'm turning into an advent calendar with ornaments with my kids pictures on it! I'll post a picture as soon as I have them completed.

Fall is such a great time to decorate. When money is tight, you don't have a lot of time and you don't have a lot of ideas, I'm really grateful for Heritage Makers! There are so many great ideas and templates in the gallery that it makes decorating SO easy. I LOVE Total Class Creative too because you can create anything custom in your Heritage Makers Studio to mod podge to their fun wood crafts. They have the cutest baby doll unfinished wood furniture. Wouldn't it make the cutest gift to personalize it and have it match a little girls room... SO EASY with HM studio:) There are some other fun ideas on their blog

I wish there were more hours in the day:) Too many fun projects to create, so little time!

I am SO excited about my new blog 12x12 post bound album. I'm so happy that Heritage Makers now offers a 12x12 post bound album as one of their products. I ordered it last night and can't wait for it to get here. I've been doing my family blog in 12x12 pages, which I LOVE, it kills 2 birds with 1 stone and my kids love looking through the pages. My blog is entitled "Find Joy in the Journey" I put that title on the cover of my album and also made a title page that will be the first page in my album, it has a quote that I really like and want to live by it is "Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family." -Thomas S Monson.

I also made my blog header using the same collection of artwork (the grown up table collection). Isn't it so fun how everything matches!!!

This is why I LOVE Heritage Makers...

“Best of Heritage” is one of the awards given at the HM annual conference. This project is about a family and their baby, who had a birth defect that would not allow him to live very long. There is an organization called “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep” that consists of over 7000 photographers that volunteer their time to visit during the precious time after these infants are born. They photograph the endearing moments that Mom, Dad, siblings and family members spend with their little one.

Heritage Makers is partnering with NILMDTS and will be donating a book featuring these photos to each family that the photographers serve. As a consultant, I volunteer to help these families design their books. I gain so much fulfillment from the projects I have been able to help others do. Heritage Makers offers a wonderful product and process, and for me, a consultant, a wonderful opportunity to do what I love and help others.

Use the 8x8 pages and 2x7 wood (cut into 7 inch blocks). Design the 8x8 page however you'd like, but make your image 7x7 so when you get the page back you just cut it out and it's ready to be attached to the block. Paint your block. Attach the page to the block with double stick tape. This gives it a smooth flat look and no bubbles from the mod podge. Do you have your own family blog? Ever wonder where those posts and pictures will be in a year or in 3 years, 5 years etc.? I've often thought about that and didn't like the fact that I couldn't read the cute stories that I posted and show the fun pictures to my kids at bedtime, until NOW! I have come up with a simple solution to fix that problem!!! It's Heritage Makers 12x12 pages. Today in less than 1 hour I made EIGHT 12x12 pages (using pre-designed templates). I posted them to my family blog and then also published them through Heritage Makers, so they will print the pages and ship them to me, all for less than $4 a page! Those memories are definitely worth $4 a page:) With a premier membership you have access to ALL of the templates and all of the artwork, so it makes creating a page a cinch! The holidays are quickly approaching and it's time to get serious about the gifts we're going to be giving. Don't just buy something because you have to give a gift, give a gift this year that will be treasured and used, and for sure not returned or re-gifted.

I'll be posting some fun SUPER AFFORDABLE ideas you can give using Heritage Makers publishing studio. Some of the ideas are "crafty" using our 12x12 pages and other ideas are our beautiful products, such as cookbooks, calendars, playing cards and more!

Making Family History FUN!

I just made the funnest interactive family tree!!! I used a 18x24 poster from www.storiesthatlive.com and taped it to a 18x24 metal sheet (you can get these at your local heating and cooling store). Then I made magnets using a 12x12 scrapbook page and a sheet of 2x2 tiles from Home Depot.

I laminated the poster and attached the pictures to the tiles with Mod Podge then hot glued the magnet to the back.

Jace and I just tried it out. He went from saying "Who's that?" to "Can we do it again, that's fun"

MAKE AND TAKE!!
Do you need a fun CRAFT idea... here are some simple, fun and AFFORDABLE ideas!!!

SPECIAL MEMORIES BOX: This is a great way to keep all your favorite cards, notes, letters, etc. all in one place. (see photo below in previous post) This is made using 2 12x12 pages and a 7in craft box ($2 at wal mart).

FAMILY CLOCK: Super easy and a great addition to your home. This is made using 1 8x8 page and a 9 inch clock ($4 at walmart) (see photo above).

BLOCKS: Create your blocks to say whatever you want... does your reunion have a theme? If so make a block per family or per kid with the theme or family moto. 1 12x12 page will make 5 blocks, then cut a 2x4 into 7 in blocks. (see photo below in previous post)

TILES: Create a tile with an ancestors picture or grandma and grandpa with one of their favorite sayings. 1 12x12 page can make 4 tiles, then get 4 6x6 tiles at Home Depot (or any home improvement store).

Great Family Reunion Ideas!

Do you have a family reunion this summer? Here are some great ideas of some fun things you can do at your family reunion to strengthen your families heritage!

1. Family Treasures Card game this is fun family game that has a playing board (poster that you laminate) that goes with it. To view the instructions click here.

2. I AM a Heritage Maker Activity Book: This is a great way your kids and their cousins to get to know their heritage in a fun activity book.

3. Personalized Card Deck: Does your family like to play card games? Create your own custom deck of cards with pictures of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. There are lots of templates to choose from in the gallery (rook, old maid, go fish, face cards, etc.)

4. FAMILY LAND: this fun game is just like Candy Land, but with your family name and the family activities you enjoy doing together. A great game that will keep the kids entertained for hours! It also has a deck of cards that go with it.

5. Family Cookbook: If you have time before the reunion have family members send you a favorite recipe and a picture. Put together a family cookbook. Take the cookbook to the reunion and if family members would like a copy you can take orders. **If you don't have time to put it together before the reunion, have family bring their picture and favorite recipe to the reunion, then put the cookbook together after the reunion.

6. BINGO: Create your own bingo cards with pictures of grandparents and other relatives. Great way for the young kids to learn their great grandparents names:)

Special Memories Box

This is a brown craft box I found at wal mart for a few dollars. I needed a place to put the letters that my husbands grandmother sent him while he was on his mission, so I made this box that says "special memories special memories" on the top with pictures of his grandparents on it. I then put the letters inside the box. It makes a great item to put on a shelf or book case, it's about 7"x7".

Make your Child the STAR!

Are your kids playing sports this summer? Why not make them the STAR and help build their self esteem and confidence! This is a 8.5x11 page (template in the gallery) that looks like the cover of a sports illustrated magazine. When I showed this to my son he said "Mom, you made a magazine about me!" It was just the cover, but he felt super special!

The clock is a 9" clock I got at walmart for $4. It's a picture of my son and it says "It's GAME TIME" So fun hu!!!

A Great Poster Idea

This is my latest poster I made to hang in my house. What's great about HM is that you can customize everything, so if you have a favorite quote or saying you can easily put it in place of the quote that is in this project! This is a 12x12 scrapbook page- IDEA: design it however you want and then mod podge it to a tile and display on an easel.

These are also 12x12 pages- IDEA: Take a family picture, make it 12 inches by 12 inches put a quote on the page and frame it. The little tile on the right is a from a 12x12 page, I divided the page into fourths and then cut it and put it on the tile with mod podge. It says "Hold tight to that which you cherish- FAMILY"

This is a 5x5 storybook and 12x12 pages- IDEA: Design your 12x12 page into 7.5x3 inch images and then mod podge them onto 2x4 wood blocks.

This is a 12x12 storybook- IDEA: Create a family yearbook each year and make copies for each member of the family. Display your book on a table so you can look at it often.

This is a 12x12 page- IDEA: Create 6 3x3 inch squares on your 12x12 page, cut out the squares and put them into a photo cube, or you could mod podge them onto a wood block. This is a 6 generation cube for my daughter. Each side has a photo, name, birth place, birth date/ death date (if applicable) and then characteristic traits about the person.
